SAN ANTONIO– Since our story first aired there has been an outpouring of support for the Gaspar family.
They have been homeless since a medical emergency struck the father, causing them to lose everything.
However, for just one night, the family and all the kids currently living at the Salvation Army, got a chance to forget about financial struggles. The Gaspar Family and the kids at the Salvation Army filed in to the Zoo for some holiday fun.
They ooed and awed around every corner, singing carols along the way; for one fun night forgetting the challenges life has brought, thanks to the kindness of the San Antonio Zoo after hearing of the Gaspar family’s struggles.
Support for the Gaspar family
“It’s an amazing story of a supportive family and a hardworking family that could just use a little extra help to make this holiday one that they’ll never forget,” San Antonio Zoo Community Events Manager Janette Surrett said.
“It’s awesome that they all got to come because of us,” Jasmin Marquez- Gaspar said. “There is hope. There is people who do help and some of them don’t want anything in return.”
And for these kids whose families have found shelter at the Salvation Army, the night was about forgetting reality and just being a kid.
