AFTER 65 MILLION YEARS, DINOSAURS ARE ROAMING TAMPA’S LOWRY PARK ZOO
Dinos Alive!, An Interactive Jurassic Adventure, Opens February 25

TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 9, 2017) – After 65 million years, dinosaurs will take over Tampa Bay and roam Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo every day, Feb. 25 – Aug. 2017! Explorers will be surrounded by life-size dinosaurs as they experience Dinos Alive! – a limited-time, outdoor exhibit of prehistoric proportions. Guests will get up-close and personal with varying species of dinosaurs that move, roar and interact with them. The experience will give insight on how dinosaurs adapted and thrived for millions of years, and why they went extinct.

Zoo explorers will find a dynamic display featuring ancient creatures ranging from the treacherous Tyrannosaurus, one of the largest and most powerful predators, to the towering Brachiosaurus, an 18-foot tall herbivore. These interactive, multi-sensory dinosaurs, will engage guests with natural movements and noises. Guests can get eye-to-eye — or in some cases eye-to-foot due to their colossal size — with a Dilophosaurus, Quetzalocoatlus, Suchomimus and more than a dozen others of mammoth magnitude.

Paleontology protégés can explore with a Dino Passport full of fun facts, and visit activity areas where they can search for fossil finds at the “Fossil Fun” dig site, take in a brand new show, “Dinos Among Us,” and even build their own dinosaur at “Build-a-Saurus.” Also new this year, guests will feast on dino-sized food and drinks at the recently renovated Dino Grille.

In addition, guests can come nose-to-horn with an Indian rhinoceros, as they have the opportunity to interact with this species vulnerable to extinction. The once-in-a-lifetime experience will be offered twice a day at an additional cost.

“At Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo, inner scientists will be awakened as they learn about dinosaurs through the eyes of a paleontologist and connect with present-day species of wildlife on the brink of extinction,” said Joe Couceiro, President and CEO. “With more than a dozen species of lifelike dinosaurs and so much to explore – it will take more than one day for families to fully experience Dinos Alive!”

Dinos Alive! is included with daytime admission and free for Zoo members or guests who paid for a day to come back all year. Zoo members will get an exclusive sneak preview of the exhibit, Feb. 17-24. Commemorative gifts and complimentary Dino Passports will be given to members while supplies last.
